Description
Wheel-thrown terracotta piggy bank
This wheel-thrown terracotta piggy bank is a handcrafted item made according to Tuscan tradition.
The wheel-throwing process uses the same galestro clay, which is diluted with water to make it more workable. Therefore it is water diluted with galestro clay. Its frost resistance is -5°C.
Initially, the terracotta appears as a soft, grey material, allowing the potter to easily work the clay.
The clay is manually inserted into plaster molds and takes on the desired shape.
The clay must remain inside the mold long enough to dry.
Therefore, the potter can make the necessary finishing touches to enhance its beauty.
Before firing, the product must dry completely to avoid unpleasant breakage.
The temperature is gradually increased to 1000°C: the temperature at which the actual firing takes place.
It is important to explain that this process takes 3 days:
- 1 day to raise the temperature to 1000 degrees
- 2 days to lower the temperature and finally remove the finished product from the kiln.
Once finished, the product is solid and pinkish in color.
Over thirty years of experience in the sector to guarantee the best material choice and the best handcrafting.
However, due to the handcrafted nature, products may vary slightly in size, weight, and color.
