We use majolica clay in items where we need to highlight, in the most prominent points of the object, the dark of the underlying terracotta. Returning to the procedure, we mold and hand-touch up the terracotta base: after which it is put in the oven for the first firing at 1000 degrees.

Once out of the oven, the piece goes to the second processing phase. We apply a special rubber that we apply with a brush and which will solidify, thus preventing the glaze from adhering to those points that must remain white. After that, with a special gun, the glaze is applied by spraying, which will appear as a powder and of a different color than the one we will have at the end of the process.

After the glaze has dried, we begin to remove the rubber previously applied, being very careful not to touch the glaze. Furthermore, another coat of transparent “crystalline” glaze will be sprayed, which will give the product a shiny patina.

When this glaze has dried, it will be fired a second time at 900 degrees, permanently bonding with the base piece. Once out of the oven, the glaze will have taken on the desired color and the object will have a shiny and glazed effect.
